The Christmas Revels®

For the Family, Holiday
The Christmas Revels® is a musical and theatrical celebration of the Winter Solstice. This year, we’re singing, dancing, & storytelling in an English village (mid-17th century) where the doings of the wee folk – fairies, hobgoblins, brownies, and such – are part of everyday life. They can be helpful, mischievous, or downright troublesome. Caught in their world it takes magic to escape. High-energy and hilarious Tony Curry joins the celebration so you know there’s fun ahead. Other players are: the Revels Adult and Children’s Choruses, The Seattle Brass Ensemble; The Twimble Tunesters (Jacob Breedlove, Ben Neubauer, Esther Saulle) playing a number of instruments including the vielle, viola da gamba, recorders, krumhorns, hurdy-gurdy, bass rebec, and schryarpfief. If you haven’t heard of some of these instruments, you’re not alone. The show includes the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance, a Mummer’s Play, and a fairy and a hobgoblin. As always, it will be beautiful, funny, joyous; a delight for eyes and ears; a celebration for family and friends - the perfect December gathering. B.J. Douglas once again directs the production with music director Megan Oberfield. The wonderful set is designed by Martin Christoffel. Costume design by Alex Lewington. The Christmas Revels® is a lively concoction of folk tradition and high art that blends adults and children, amateurs and professionals, audience and players and truly does include dancing in the aisles. Full of humor and beauty, it plays each year to sell-out audiences of all ages from all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Performance times and dates: Saturday, December 15, 2018 @ 2pm & 7:30pm Sunday, December 16, 2018 @ 1pm & 5:30pm* *(5:30p show ASL interpreted) Tuesday & Wednesday, December 18 & 19, 2018 @ 7:30pm

Portland Cello Project: Radiohead’s OK Computer

Orchestral, Experimental (Incl. All Music Forms), Rock
Portland Cello Project is a huge ensemble including a horde of cellos, some element of winds, full rhythm section of drums and bass, and guest vocalists. This concert highlights the entirety of Radiohead’s album OK Computer, with each song carefully arranged: some instrumental, some with vocals; some whisper quiet, and others on as large a scale as possible. Portland Cello Project has been performing this repertoire for the last five years, constantly evolving and maturing their arrangements.

Joining them, is Austin-based trio, Hot Club of Cowtown, which deliver hot jazz and Western swing light and tight, like tumbleweeds made of velvet.
