Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Modern, Classical Dance, Comedy
Since its inception in 1974, this all-male ensemble has established itself as a major dance phenomenon -- masterfully performing and parodying the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire with zany humor and balletic skill. The “Trocks” comedy is achieved by incorporating and exaggerating the foibles, accidents, and underlying incongruities of serious dance. Men dance all the parts—heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, sylphs, water sprites, romantic princesses, and angst-ridden Victorian ladies. Their performance will delight and amuse the most knowledgeable dance fans as well as novices to ballet.

Air Play

Experimental/Perf. Art
Ride the wind and dream with Air Play, a modern spectacle that brings to life the very air we breathe. A visual poem, Air Play uses no words — blurring the edge of definition: part comedy, part sculpture, part circus, part theater. Flying umbrellas, larger-than-life balloons, giant kites floating over the audience and the biggest snow globe you’ve ever seen will make you gasp in wonder and laugh until it hurts. Air Play is a circus-style adventure of two siblings journeying through a surreal land of air, transforming the ordinary into objects of uncommon beauty. This comic adventure on an epic scale is innovative and spectacular for audiences of all ages.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Classical Dance, Modern
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater grew from a now-fabled performance in March 1958 at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Led by Alvin Ailey and a group of young African-American modern dancers, that performance changed forever the perception of American dance. The Ailey company has gone on to perform for an estimated 25 million people at theaters in 48 states and 71 countries on six continents, reaching millions more through television broadcasts, film screenings, and online platforms. In 2008, a U.S. Congressional resolution designated the Company as "…a vital American cultural ambassador to the world."
