Black Violin

Kev Marcus (violin) and Wil Baptiste (viola) are Black Violin, two classically trained musicians who, along with their DJ TK, have created the ultimate synergy between classical and hip-hop music and with it an incredible opportunity to reach children. Kev Marcus and Wil b, both graduates of Dillard Performing Arts High School, used their musical talents to earn full scholarships to college. Now Black Violin wants to make sure that young people get the same exposure to the arts and opportunity that they did. Performing and touring with P. Diddy, Kanye West, Fifty Cent, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, the Eagles and more, Black Violin has committed themselves for the next few years to give back and teach children that classical music is cool.

Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson

Neil DeGrasse Tyson, the director of New York's Hayden Planetarium, has become the popular face of modern astrophysics and has had a large hand in reviving the popularity of science in America. He is a frequent guest on the nighttime talk shows. Tyson earned his B.A. in Physics from Harvard and his Ph.D in Astrophysics from Columbia. Tyson’s professional research interests are broad, but include star formation, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies and the structure of our Milky Way. In addition to dozens of professional publications, Tyson has written, and continues to write, for the public. From 1995 to 2005, Tyson was a monthly essayist for Natural Historymagazine under the title “Universe.” And among his 10 books are his memoir, "The Sky is Not the Limit: Adventures of an Urban Astrophysicist"; and "Origins: Fourteen Billion Years of Cosmic Evolution," co-written with Donald Goldsmith. "Origins" is the companion book to the 2004 PBS-NOVA mini-series "Origins," in which Tyson served as on-camera host.

His Postmodern Jukebox project began on YouTube in 2011 infuses notable popular songs with jazz, swing and ragtime elements, or, as a Boston Globe writer put it "takes the pop hits of the text-and-Snapchat age and recasts them as meticulously arranged period pieces, from ragtime to doo-wop."

Leslie Odom Jr. won the 2016 Tony Award for Leading Actor in a Musical for his star-making turn in the smash hit Broadway musical "Hamilton," for which he also received the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album as a principal soloist on the original cast recording. His self-titled debut jazz album, Leslie Odom Jr., was released in June 2016.
