The singer-songwriter's eighth album is "Sermon on the Rocks," released in 2015. It drew praise from NPR and The Wall Street Journal. Jon Pareles of the New York Times heard the influence of Dylan, Springsteen and Mark Knopfler on the album's songs. Pareles called Ritter's enduring sound "folky" and his songs in general full of "serious ideas and high-flown imagery."

The Wood Brothers

Rock, Blues, Folk
Oliver Wood, of the blues-roots band King Johnson, and Chris Wood, of the instrumental jazz trio Medeski Martin & Wood, grew up in Boulder, CO but never really found their own musical chemistry until after they'd forged their own, individual paths for 15 years. After years of musical and geographical separation, they decided to unite and create rootsy music that blends blues, folk and rock music in a way that melds their sibling harmonies and the music they loved as kids together into one package. They are currently on tour to support their latest release, 'Live, Volume 2: Nail and Tooth,' a live set collection to be released on August 28 from Southern Ground.

The Infamous Stringdusters

Bluegrass, Live Music in Bar/Club
Emerging from a lively community of friends and colleagues from the Nashville area and now taking root in Charlottesville, VA, The Infamous Stringdusters are five musicians (Travis Book on bass, Andy Falco on guitar, Jeremy Garrett on fiddle, Andy Hall on dobro and Chris Pandolfi on banjo) poised at a point where youthful energy is balanced with maturity, inspiration with discipline and creativity with experience. Their latest release is 'Silver Sky' and it's a prime example of what they call "The High Country," a style of music schooled in bluegrass tradition yet able to stretch out in jam band-style improvisation, endowed with razor-sharp vocals, fiery instrumental abilities and a rapidly growing repertoire of well-crafted original songs and tunes.

To some, it must seem like this young electronic producer came out of nowhere this year. Emancipator (Doug Appling) played his first live show in July 2009, opening for Bonobo at the Roseland Theater (cap. 1500). Since then, he’s toured with Bassnectar, STS9, Pretty Lights, drawn crowds at festivals like Trinumeral and Symbiosis, and closed out Sound Tribe Sector 9’s late night parties in Denver at the request of the band.
