Lucinda Williams

Americana/Roots
Lucinda Williams may be the best roots- and blues-oriented songwriter working. Her songs have been covered by some of the most distinctive musicians of her generation, but she remains her own best interpreter. She exploded into public consciousness with her 1988 self-titled album, which was overflowing with songs everyone should hear at least once, including "Passionate Kisses," "Big Red Sun Blues," and the breakup anthem "Changed the Locks." Now in her 60s, she is selling out venues across North America and throughout Europe. Her Louisiana drawl gives her voice distinction. Her lyrics employ a pared-down vocabulary to tell stories in arrestingly original ways. Williams' writing has been influenced by the taste and example of her father, the poet Miller Williams, who died in 2015. She put one of his poems to music on her 2014 album, "Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone."

Chicago

Rock, Pop
In 1967, seven Chicago musicians set out to create a new sound: a rock band with horns. Their dream turned into 20 Top-10 singles and 12 Top-10 albums. Among their hits many hits are "If You Leave Me Now," "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" and "Here In My Heart." Nearly five decades later, in 2016, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

John Prine

Rock, Folk
When Chicago's own John Prine left his post-office job to become a musician, he was immediately labeled "the new Bob Dylan" for his socially conscious songs. For over thirty years, Prine has explored styles ranging from folk & blues to country & rockabilly, never settling on one element to pigeonhole his creative output. Prine won a 1991 Grammy award for his album, 'The Missing Years,' which included guest appearances by Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt & Tom Petty.

The B-52s

Rock, Pop
The B-52s (Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland and Cindy Wilson), perhaps best known for their hit song 'Love Shack,' formed in Athens, GA back in the late '70s and named themselves after Southern slang for a particular beehive hairdo that resembled the nose of an aircraft. Their first single 'Rock Lobster,' recorded in 1978, was an underground success, and on the strength of their energetic, post-punk live shows at such legendary venues as CBGB in New York City and Max's Kansas City, their self-titled debut sold more than 500,000 copies. Now, more than 30 years and 20 million albums sold later, the group is still one of the most beloved party bands in existence. The touring band includes members Sterling Campbell, Paul Gordon and Tracy Wormworth.
