Stadium High School Performing Arts Center

111 NW St., Tacoma, WA, 98403

From New York City, Deanna Ford rehearsed the company in December to create her “With Love”, a pink costumed classical piece which depicts the Susan G. Komen logo. Ford, originally from Tacoma and a Wilson High graduate, was a former Tacoma Performing Dance company member who went to New York on a School of American Ballet scholarship and became a ballerina with the Hartford Ballet. She then performed with the Radio City Music Hall shows as the pas de deux artist and traveled worldwide with the Rockettes for several years, appearing in Seattle at the Paramount where she was the subject of the Evening televison show on Channel 5. She is now a master teacher in the New York area.

Cancer survivor Jean Milano will present two ballroom segments in the programs. Milano and her husband Kaye Munro are professional ballroom dance teachers.

Amity Howell-Sloboda will premiere a new modern work to the music of Ben Harper, John Legend, U2, and The Beattles.

Jazz Dance pieces will include Janis Robinson’s “Halo” and Jo Emery’s “Mercy” set to the Duffy song.

Works from the company repertoire will include Artistic Director Jo Emery’s Metallics, Teresa Dobbin’s No Air and Kim Plancich’s My Own Special Intention.

Speakers from the Susan G. Komen foundation will make presentations and a special quilt designed by Veronica Gaines will be raffled.
