NIN is touring behind their latest release The Slip, a full length album Trent Reznor released for free via the Internet in May.
Even though CD and Vinyl versions of the album have been released this summer, the downloadable files are still available at NIN's website. As of last month, The Slip had been downloaded 1.6 million times worldwide since its May 5 release.
Joining founder and frontman Reznor on the dates are guitarist Robin Finck, keyboardist Alessandro Cortini, drummer Josh Freese and bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen. Aside from Meldal-Johnsen--best known for his work with Beck--all have played with the band in the past.
NIN, the project of multi instrumentalist Reznor, released its debut album Pretty Hate Machine in 1989 and slowly built a solid fan base inside and outside the Industrial genre. His ’99 double album The Fragile debuted at No 1 on the charts and catapulted the band into super-stardom. Reznor has continued to release challenging albums in his own imprint like the instrumental Ghosts I-IV that preceded The Slip and producing or releasing other artists like Marilyn Manson or Saul Williams.
