Fair/Festival, For the Family
During the day on Thursday and Friday, cultural practitioners, many from Hawai'i, lead workshops including Hawaiian hula and chanting, poi-pounding, outrigger canoe paddling, kapa-making and stamping, lomilomi massage techniques, and more. There will be a free party on Thursday evening, with food is available to purchase. Friday evening is the Hapa Haole Hula Competition, fee to participate, free to watch. Food available to purchase, cultural practitioners display their work. The Aunty Deva Memorial 5k Fun Run is on Saturday morning, all ages welcome, and dogs on leash. Fee to participate except children under 10 are free. The grand finale is the Ho`ike and Hawaiian Festival, starting at 10 am and going all day until 7 pm on Saturday. Live Hawaiian music, dancing, singing all day. Free admission, food available to purchase. Many Hawaiian craft vendors, cultural practitioner area, fun for kids. 6th and Esther Streets.
