Never a Dull Moment

Contrary to the other reviewer, I haven't seen a bad show here in 4 years, and I've seen most of them.

The Christmas musicals make a great tradition for the family, the first winter show is often a thinker (which I appreciate, after the long slog of the holiday season), then there's a couple more before the summer musical, and often a Shakespeare after. I love that every season is so different from the one before it.

Professional theater bridges the gap between community theater and places like the Washington Center (where all the performers are from elsewhere in the country), and it's really essential to this downtown arts scene that we all appreciate.

The gist of it: Harlequin Productions does a great job in the State Theater, and I highly recommend attending a show (or many!) here.

Rocky Horror a total waste

Don't waste your money on the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I wasted $200 so we could listen to some idiot in the audience scream his stupidity at the actors and watch the actors react with miss steps and flubbed lines. Audience participation is great. Drunken disrepect is another. Everyone was complaining and actors were clearly flustered. One actor was so angered, he flipped the jerk the bird. Why the jerk wasn't shown the door is beyond me. This was so bad, I am having my credit card company reverse the charges. I encourage others to do the same. If managment won't step up to protect the actors and their audience's enjoyment, there is no reason for anyone to risk their money on a State Theater event.
