9th annual Rotary Cool Jazz Festival

Saturday, Nov 21 6:00p to 10:00p
Price: Daytime performances are free; evening event is $50 per person.
Phone: (360) 790-4150
Age Suitability: None Specified

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the festival will feature 10 local high school jazz "swing" bands. Bands play for a panel of professional musicians lead by local jazz great Syd Potter, retired director of jazz at Fort Steilacoom Community College. The panel offers suggestions to help the bands in their upcoming competitive season. This provides a non-competitive format for local high school musicians to hone their skills, shake off the cobwebs at the end of marching band season, and prepare for the jazz band season.

In the evening from 6-10 p.m. for a $50 donation benefitting Rotary charities, participants will enjoy delicious tastings from local and regional wineries as well as Olympia's fine Fish Tale Ale. The wine tasting will occur in the lobby of the Washington Center and the band "7 on 7" will be playing on the main stage set up for dancing.
